Clergy Immigration Support Fund

At a Glance
The purpose of the clergy immigration support fund is to share the financial burden that immigrant clergy are carrying so they may serve our churches and strengthen their connection as United Methodists. This fund will be used to cover the government related fees and costs for clergy immigration.
Additional Details
Currently, more than 70 immigrant clergy are serving various congregations throughout the conference. All immigrant candidates and clergy need to go through a legalization process to secure a religious visa and later a permanent residency to be appointed and serve congregations.
A seed fund in the amount of $50,000 has been raised under Bishop Johnson’s leadership and by generous donations from the Preacher’s Aid Society and the United Methodist Foundation of the Northeast. Donations to the fund will be critical in sustaining the fund for ongoing needs.
