Welcome to ufmne.org (the “Site”), which is owned and operated by the United Methodist Foundation of the Northeast (“UMFNE” “the Foundation” “we,” “us,” or “our”).  This Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) explains how UMFNE collects, uses, and shares your Personal Information which is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable natural person, or as otherwise defined under applicable law (“Personal Information”). This Privacy Policy applies when you use and interact with the Site.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the Site, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the terms of this Privacy Policy and consent to UMFNE’s collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information and other information as set forth herein. If you do not consent to the terms of this Privacy Policy, you should not access or use the Site in any way and should immediately exit it. This Policy is incorporated into and subject to our Terms of Use. 

Privacy Policy Updates

We may periodically revise this Privacy Policy at any time, by posting an amended Privacy Policy on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after any revisions means you consent to and accept the revised Privacy Policy. 

Collection of Information 

We collect Personal Information and other information that you provide to us and that we gather through automated means. 

Information you provide 

We collect Personal Information and other information when you interact with the Site, such as when you contact us through the contact methods listed on the Site or when you apply to or participate in one of our initiatives such as opening a new investment account, donating to a fund, initiative, or camp, applying for a loan, requesting information on estate planning, gift giving, stewardship or one of our other programs. The information collected may include but is not limited to:

For certain programs and initiatives, we may also collect the Personal Information of certain church officials, including names, titles, signatures, length of employment, professional backgrounds, and length of service. You are responsible for obtaining these officials’ consent to provide us with their Personal Information.

We may also collect other information which is not considered Personal Information such as church bank account and investment information.

Automatically Collected Information

By choosing to use the Site, you agree to provide the Foundation with certain information, including Personal Information, which is automatically created, collected, and recorded by your use of the Site (collectively “Usage Information”). The Foundation uses third parties, including analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, to collect Usage Information to help us understand how visitors use our Site. Usage Information may include: 

Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit the Site rather than your name or other identifying information. We do not combine the information collected through Google Analytics with personally identifiable information you provide to us. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required by law or where such third parties process the information on Google’s behalf. Cookies and Similar Technology

UMFNE and our third-party service providers use cookies and similar technologies such as pixels, web beacons, access logs, and local storage to collect Personal Information and Usage Information related to your online activities. 

Cookies are small files that are stored on your computer and automatically collect certain information from you. Cookies identify and recognize your browser or device. We may use the following types of Cookies: (i) strictly necessary cookies which are necessary for the Site to function; (ii) functionality cookies which enhance user experience by remembering preferences and settings in order to personalize website interactions; and (iii) analytics cookies which allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of the Site.

Most browsers provide you with the ability to block, delete, or disable cookies. If you choose to reject cookies, some features and functionality of the Site may be limited or unavailable. Do Not Track 

Some web browsers have a “Do Not Track” preference that transmits information to websites you visit indicating that you do not want your activity to be tracked. We do not respond to browser initiated “Do Not Track” signals at this time as there is no standard for how online services should respond to such signals. However, UMFNE treats Global Privacy Control signals as opt-out of sale and opt out of targeted/cross-context behavioral advertising requests under applicable state laws (e.g., California Consumer Privacy Act).

How We Use Your Personal Information  

Information we collect is used as described in this Privacy Policy or as otherwise disclosed to you. These purposes include to:

Sharing Information 

Service Providers

We may share your personal information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as website hosting, email delivery, data analytics, payment processing, portfolio management, giving initiatives, and other administrative or operational functions. These third-party service providers are given access to your information only as reasonably necessary to perform their services.

Payment Processing

Any payments you make through the Site, such as for donations, will be processed by our third-party payment processor. The processor will collect your information, including Personal Information, needed to complete the transaction. You may receive communication from us and/or the payment processor regarding any payment transaction. UMFNE does not collect or store debit or credit card or banking information.

Portfolio Account

If your organization has a portfolio account, you will be asked to establish an account login. This login is used to view your organization’s portfolio account and is managed by our third-party account manager. UMFNE does not collect or store account login information.

Safeguarding of Information 

UMFNE strives to use appropriate security measures and to use service providers that follow industry standards to protect the privacy and security of your Personal Information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of Personal Information, or that unauthorized access, hacking, data loss or other breaches will never occur. WE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ANY REPRESENTATION OR WARRANTY, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WITH RESPECT TO ANY BREACHES OF SECURITY, DAMAGE TO YOUR DEVICE, OR ANY LOSS OR UNAUTHORIZED USE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION OR OTHER DATA.

Third Party Websites and Services    

The Site contains links to third-party websites, applications, and services (“Services”), including but not limited to links regarding e-gifting, estate planning, and planned giving, that are not owned or controlled by us. Please note that this Privacy Policy does not apply to such Services. You acknowledge and agree that we have no control over, and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any (“Services”). We encourage you to review the privacy policies of all the Services you visit or interact with through links on our Site before providing any personal information. Your interactions with Services are governed solely by the privacy policies and terms of use of those Services and we bear no liability for any damages or losses arising from your use of or reliance on the content, goods, or services available through such Services.

Information on Children   

We do not intend for the Site to be used by children under the age of 18, nor do we intentionally collect or solicit any Personal Information from children under the age of 18. If you are under the age of 18, please do not provide us with any information and promptly exit the Site.

How Long Do We Keep Your Personal Information

We will retain your Personal Information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it has been collected. We will also retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. We may retain information that does not identify you indefinitely.

International Transfers 

The Site is operated from our offices in the United States. If you access the Site from outside of the United States, you acknowledge and agree that your Personal Information may be transferred to and maintained on computers and servers located outside of your jurisdiction where the privacy laws may be different from those in your jurisdiction. If you choose to use the Site, you freely and specifically consent to the transfer of your Personal Information, including automatically collected information, outside of your jurisdiction and the collection, use and potential disclosure of such information in accordance with the laws of that jurisdiction and this Privacy Policy.
